MOVING MOUNTAINS

At the Mill Valley home designed by architect Chris Deam for residents Jack and Ellen Corrigan, the view begins from the top. Sun studies of the steeply sloped site informed the choice for a standing-seam metal, diagonal ridge roof, which Chris refers to as the home’s “fifth facade”.

ONE-BEDROOM PINK EXTRAVAGANZA

The spacious open plan was a considered choice. At an earlier point, Nancy says, she and Nick had intended to include a study with a sofa. Then she realized something: “I thought, Why the hell do I need a study? Somebody will just want to sleep over. They can sleep on the couch. But they can also” — she points across the street with a smile — “stay at the Empire Hotel.”

HEATH CERAMIC COLLABORATION

Dwell and Sausalito-based Heath Ceramics have more than a few things in common: both are design-focused Bay Area companies, both have a dedication to modernism, and both provide tools for smart & sustainable living. With this project, the companies' philosophies came to life as an exciting product collaboration.
